Andorra's classic loop for road cyclists and a favourite area for the pros who live and train here. The Coll d'Ordino from Canillo is a gentle start (9 km at 5 per cent) through forest, while the Beixalís from Anyós (8.7 km, 600 hm) has several steep sections of over 10 per cent. The views over the Andorran valleys are magnificent and the roads have unusually good tarmac. Both climbs are often used in the Vuelta a España.

TipsAndorra la Vella has heavy traffic, so ride early in the morning. Cafés in Canillo, Ordino and La Massana. Extend it to the Port d'Envalira (2408 m, the highest paved pass road in the Pyrenees) from Canillo via Soldeu: about 17 km and 880 hm extra each way, around 96 km and 2600 hm in total. Another classic is Arcalís (approx. 2240 m) from Ordino. Bear the altitude in mind – you're riding above 1000 metres almost the whole time.
