Val Louron

Vallée du Louron (Génos), Hautes-Pyrénées

Val Louron is a small, car-free family resort in the forest above Génos and the lake in the Louron valley. It markets itself as 'the big resort for little children', with a large sheltered beginners' area at the foot of the slopes and accommodation right on the pistes. It is quieter and cheaper than its neighbour Peyragudes. Cycling fans will know the name: in 1991 Claudio Chiappucci won the Tour de France stage here, and Miguel Indurain took the yellow jersey that he then kept for five years.
