Peyragudes was created in 1988 when the resorts of Peyresourde and Les Agudes merged, and the area now stretches across two sides and two departments above the Col de Peyresourde. Since 2019 the Skyvall gondola has run straight from Loudenvielle in the valley up to the pistes. The opening scene of the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) was shot at the altiport, and the 007 piste is a reminder of it. The steep altiport has become a modern Tour de France finish, with winners such as Romain Bardet in 2017 and Tadej Pogačar in 2022 and 2025.
