Col de Péguère
The Mur's steepest metres above Foix
Cycling climb
- Height
- 1,375 m
A narrow forest road from the Foix side via the Col des Marrous. The last kilometres are called the Mur de Péguère and in places are well over ten per cent. The col itself is in the forest, but just beside it the view opens up to the west towards Mont Valier – especially beautiful in the evening light. A true Ariège classic, and the sign is covered in stickers from cyclists.
Tour de FranceIn the Tour in 2012, when someone scattered tacks on the road during the stage to Foix, and in 2017, when Warren Barguil won in Foix.
