The area around Lavelanet lies at the foot of the Cathar castle of Montségur and combines cycling with history. The loops run through forest and hilly foothills with views of the castle and the Plantaurel. The Grande Traversée VTT passes Montségur, so the area works well as a stopover on a longer trip.
